How To Wear Red Lipstick and Statement Earrings This Holiday Season
Bold red lips and take notice earrings are two big trends this holiday season that can be worn together when carefully paired.
So, before you get ready for your big kiss under the Misteltoe here are a few tips to consider so you shine the brightest at your holiday party.
Before falling in love with just any shade of red take into consideration your skin tone.
1. Identify Your Skintype
- Fair Skin
If you have fair skin, coral-y reds look stunning on you by adding a beautiful shot of color that is not overpowering. Shades like Yves Saint Laurent in Rouge Volupte Shine compliment Emerald Green hues, made popular by Angelina Jolie, and as seen in the limited edition 1920’s Egyptian-inspired Scarab earrings by Chloe and Isabel.
- Medium Skin
Girls with Medium Skin must counterbalance their golden undertones. So anything from a true red to a pinky-cranberry shades will work like Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Ultra Lipstick in Rouge paired with Gatsby worthy tiered Crystal fringe earrings.
- Dark Skin
Dark skin requires deep, rich colors like burgundy or warm brick since superbright shades can look too harsh. M.A.C. lipstick in Diva is a beautiful color to compliment the Garnet shade in the Deco Luxe Chandelier earrings.
2. Exfoliate Lips – Wearing red lipstick means dry, peeling, and flaky lips are exaggerated. Use a sugar scrub to remove any dead skin from your lips, and follow up with your favorite moisturizer a day or two before wearing red lipstick so your lips will look smoothed and softened.
3. Prevent Color Bleeding- Use a light concealer with a small brush and apply around the border of your mouth to secure lipstick in place.
4. Use a Lipstick Brush- Red Lipstick should never be applied casually and when applied with a lipstick brush gives an even hued appearance.
5. Avoid Lipstick on Your Teeth- Once you have applied lipstick, blot lips onto a napkin to remove any excess color.
Choose Subtle Makeup- Red lipstick and statement earrings make a bold statement, so remember to keep the rest of your makeup toned down with a neutral eye and soft skin.
