Fashion as Art Attraction
Fashion and art collide this summer with blockbuster exhibits featuring a fashion icon, a little black dress, a toast to 80’s club culture and a bunch of punks. Oscar de la Renta “American Icon” is being held at the Bill Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock Arkansas. The exhibit showcases the life, designs and clothes from the man who adorns aristocrats, movie stars like Michelle Williams and Cameron Diaz and first ladies such as Hillary Clinton whose ‘now famous’ Oscar de la Renta teal pantsuit is in the exhibit. Oscar’s famous floral evening gowns are scattered beautifully throughout the exhibit, while Spanish inspired frocks are also strong in the collection reflecting the Dominican-born designer’s…

Top Travel Picks
Are you planning any trips this summer season? I recently took a trip to South America which required two planes and a layover and a few simple necessities made the journey extremely enjoyable. Because I love to snack I always keep a few Kind bars on hand. I especially love the Cranberry Almond Antioxidant kind that are also Gluten free. A beautiful and functional scarf keeps me warm and fights off any chills, and a beautiful T-shirt allows me to be stylish and dress in layers to be prepared for any change in temperature. To keep my skin looking and feeling good Ole Henriksen Vitamin C cleansing cloths give my…

Charlotte Ronson designs for Starbucks
The latest designer collaboration is Charlotte Ronson for Starbucks. The delicate design on this handy travel mug is in stark contrast to the sturdy ceramic construction to keep drinks at their desired temperature. Created from a handsketch, the print is inspired by Charlotte Ronson’s spring 2013 collection for New York Fashion Week which featured floral shades and ocean hues reflecting a feminine and urban mix. This cup is one stylish way to drink your favorite brew. 0

Barneys, Lichtenstein and New York
I am always moved by the charm of New York City. Recently when I visited the city, Roy Lichtenstein’s designs were decorating the windows in Barneys to celebrate a collaboration with the artist. Many of the artists most famous and beloved images such as the Laughing Cat, the Kiss and Ice Cream Soda are being used. I am partial to the Laughing Cat pillow which would make a wonderful addition to my home office which is currently a work in progress. 0

Laduree and Uniqlo Team For a Sweet Cause
While visiting New York City and walking down the famed 5th Ave near Tiffany’s, I stumbled into Uniqlo and became delighted when I noticed a sweet collaboration between Laduree and Uniqlo. Laduree, is the iconic French Macaron bakery which opened in 1862, and Uniqlo, is the Japanese clothing company known for their special puffer coats with built-in heat technology, and both brands are favorites of mine since discovering Uniqlo near the Opera House in Paris on a recent trip and Laduree as a child on a early trip to France. The details are the brands have collaborated for a special line of T-shirts to benefit IVY, a non-profit foundation that helps children…

A Visit to C.O. Bigelow Chemists
During my last trip to New York City to attend the shows at Fashion Week I made a special stop to C.O Bigelow Chemists in the Village. C.O. Bigelow is America’s oldest apothecary which opened in 1838. And to give a little perspective of how long this special store has been in existence in 1838 Samuel Morse debuted the telegraph, Martin Van Buren was the President of the United States and Louis Daguerre unveiled the “Boulevard du Temple” the first photo which contained a person in Paris. Left with a few hours between show I hopped on the metro to the Village in search of some unique beauty finds and to…
